Build a Workout Plan That Fits Your Real Life With ChatGPT

When I started my ChatGPT glow-up, the fitness piece turned out to be big enough to need its own spreadsheet.

My wish list was specific: four days a week, 30-minute Peloton classes, a focus on building muscle, extra glute and arm work, and no chest exercises. What I didn't have was the time to scroll through hundreds of classes and piece that together myself.

So I handed that job to Chat. Using agent mode (where Chat goes onto a website and does the clicking for you), it went through the real Peloton library, looked at the exercises inside each class, replaced anything that didn't fit my rules, and built a 12-week tracker for my weights and progress. It didn't come from one perfect prompt, either. I asked follow-up questions and kept refining until the plan fit my actual life.

This guide walks you through that same process, step by step. It's built for busy moms: short workouts, real schedules, and a plan that bends when your week falls apart, because some weeks will.

What you'll get:

  • A fitness Project in ChatGPT that remembers your goals, schedule and limits so you never start over

  • A weekly workout split built around the time you actually have

  • Real classes or workouts from the app you already use (Peloton, Apple Fitness+, YouTube or your gym)

  • A 12-week progress tracker spreadsheet for weights and wins

  • Daily targets for steps, protein, water and sleep, calculated for you

  • A Sunday check-in prompt that adjusts the plan, plus a plan for the bad weeks

What you need: ChatGPT (a free account works for most of this; agent mode needs a paid plan), the fitness app or gym you already use, and about 30 minutes to set it up.

There are 8 steps. Steps 1 to 6 are your one-time setup. Steps 7 and 8 are what you come back to every week.

Each step tells you what to do, why it matters, and gives you a prompt to copy and paste. Paste it, answer Chat's questions, and keep going. You don't have to do it all in one sitting. Because everything lives in one Project, you can pick it back up tomorrow and Chat will still know where you left off.

The biggest thing I learned: Chat's first answer is a starting point, not the final plan. If something feels off (too long, too hard, a move you hate, a day that won't work), just say so. That back and forth is where the plan gets good.

Before you start, have these ready. Rough answers are totally fine.

  • Your goal in one sentence. Mine was "leaner, stronger, more polished, healthier-looking." Not a number on the scale.

  • Your real week. Which days you could work out, how many minutes, and what time of day (5 AM before the kids are up? nap time? after bedtime?).

  • Your equipment and app. Peloton, Apple Fitness+, a YouTube channel you like, a gym membership, or just dumbbells in the garage. Write down the weights you own.

  • Injuries and limits. Bad knee, back stuff, pelvic floor, postpartum, anything a trainer would want to know.

  • What you hate. Burpees? Running? Anything with jumping? Put it on the list. (Mine was no chest exercises.)

  • Height, weight, age and activity level for the daily targets in Step 6. You can skip this if you'd rather not share it.

A quick safety note: ChatGPT is not a doctor or a personal trainer. Check with your doctor before starting a new exercise plan or making big changes, especially if you're pregnant, postpartum, injured or have a medical condition.

Last checked: October 2026. ChatGPT features and plan names change a lot, so if something looks different, just ask Chat where it moved.
