Plan It, Print It, Calendar It: My All-in-One ChatGPT Family Planner

My ChatGPT prompts · Last checked: October 2026

If you're the planner in your house, you know "let's do something festive this weekend" really means hours of research for you.

So I gave ChatGPT the job. I told it our area, my kids' ages, what they're into, how far we'd drive and when we're actually free. It found real local events, mixed in easy at-home traditions, made printable planners for the fridge, and added everything to our Google Calendar. I used it for the holidays, but it works for any season, a school break or just a busy fall. Copy a prompt, swap in your details where you see [brackets], and paste it into ChatGPT.

A few tips before you start:

  • Give it your real schedule first: sports, birthday parties, work trips, the weekends that are already full.
  • Tell it your kids' ages and what they love right now. A great Saturday for a 3-year-old looks nothing like one for a 9-year-old.
  • Keep all 4 steps in one chat, so each step builds on the plan you already have.
  • You don't need real names. "Kid 1, age 7, loves trains" works just as well.

What you need

Just ChatGPT. Use it at chatgpt.com or in the ChatGPT app on your phone or computer.

The plan: Any ChatGPT plan works. To find real local events, ChatGPT needs to search the web. It usually does this on its own, and you'll see it say it's searching.

The printables: ChatGPT makes your fridge planners as images or a PDF right in the chat. Free accounts have lower daily limits, so if you hit one, try again later.

Google Calendar (optional): Connect it once and ChatGPT can add your approved plans for you. The steps are just below. What you can connect depends on your plan and where you live, and some work accounts need an admin to allow it.

Menus move around a lot. If you get stuck, ask ChatGPT itself: "How do I connect Google Calendar?" More on connecting apps in The AI Plugins Every Mom Should Connect.

Before you start: connect Google Calendar (2 minutes)

  1. Open ChatGPT. The first time, it's easiest at chatgpt.com on a computer.
  2. Click Plugins in the left sidebar (or go to chatgpt.com/plugins) and search for Google Calendar.
  3. Click Connect (some accounts show Install plugin first). Sign in to the Google account whose calendar you actually use, and allow access.
  4. In your chat, ChatGPT uses it when you ask about your calendar. To make sure it does, tap the + and pick Google Calendar, or type @Google Calendar.
  5. Don't see Plugins? Some accounts still have it under Settings, then Apps (it used to be called Connectors). Skip this whole box if you only want the plan and the printables.

How it works, in 4 steps

About 10 minutes for the whole season.

  3. Step 3: Print itTurn the final plan into cute printable planners for the fridge, one page per month.
  4. Step 4: Calendar itChatGPT shows you every event, you say yes, and they land on Google Calendar with times and addresses.

Quick questions

Do I need a paid ChatGPT plan?

You can plan and make the printables on the free plan, with lower daily limits. Connecting Google Calendar depends on your plan and where you live, so if you don't see it, check ChatGPT's plan page.

I don't see Plugins in my ChatGPT.

Update the app, or try chatgpt.com on a computer. Some accounts still show it under Settings, then Apps. You can also ask ChatGPT "How do I connect Google Calendar?"

Will ChatGPT change things on my calendar without asking?

The prompt tells it to show you every event first, wait for your yes, and never change or delete anything already there. Still read the list before you approve.

Are the events it finds real?

It searches the web, but it can still get a date or time wrong. That's why the prompt asks for a link for every event. Click it before you go.

The printable has a typo.

Say "Fix the spelling on [word]." Check each page before you print.

Do I have to share my kids' names?

No. "Kid 1, age 7" works fine. Your town or zip helps it find local events, but you never have to put that on anything you share.

Does this work in Claude or Gemini?

The planning prompts work anywhere. The printable and calendar steps on this page are written for ChatGPT, because that's what I tested.
