Animated Birthday Invite + RSVP Website

The exact prompt I used to have ChatGPT make my daughter's moving birthday invite, plus a matching RSVP website where every family gets its own link. Fill in the blanks and send.

Sam’s Tips

  • "Spell every word exactly as I wrote it" is the line that keeps typos out of your kid's name.

  • For the theme, name two or three things your kid is obsessed with. That's what makes the art so fun.

  • Keep your home address off the invite if you'll ever post it anywhere. Text it to the other parents separately.

  • The short version I started with, if you only want the moving invite: "Make a birthday e-vite I can text to the other parents. It's for [name]'s [age, like 5th] birthday, theme: [theme]. The party is [date] from [time] at [place]. RSVP to [your name] by [date]. Make it phone-sized (tall), bright and fun, and spell every word exactly as I wrote it. Also make it move!! :)" (I forgot the time on my first try, so it's already in there for you.)

What You’ll Need

• ChatGPT. It makes the invite and builds the website itself, and my invite took it about six minutes.

• A paid ChatGPT plan for the RSVP website. ChatGPT builds it with its Sites feature, which isn't on the Free or Go plans and wasn't in the UK or EU at launch. Last checked: October 2026.

• Your party details: name, age, theme, date, time, place and RSVP date

• About 10 minutes to fill it in, plus a few minutes while ChatGPT works

Standard Prompt

How to use this prompt

  1. Copy the prompt and fill in every bracket. Don't forget the party time (I did!).

  2. Paste it into ChatGPT and let it work. It's not instant, so don't start it five minutes before you need to send it.

  3. Check every word, date and time on the invite before you send it.

  4. Ask for changes in plain words, like "make the unicorn bigger" or "add the party time".

  5. Open your organizer page, add each family, and text each one their own RSVP link. Their replies show up there.

Create a complete birthday invitation and RSVP website for my child. Build the finished working website and downloadable invitation files.

CUSTOMIZE THESE DETAILS

- Child's name: [name]

- Birthday age: [age]

- Theme: [theme, for example unicorns, mermaids + princesses]

- Party date, including year: [for example November 21, 2026]

- Date displayed on the invitation: [for example Nov 21]

- Party time displayed exactly: [for example 12-4pm]

- Time zone: [for example America/Chicago]

- Location displayed exactly: [for example at our house]

- RSVP contact: [your name]

- RSVP deadline displayed exactly: [for example Nov 14]

- Organizer's sign-in email: [your email address]

Use the correct birthday ordinal, such as 5th or 6th. Preserve the spelling, capitalization, punctuation, and wording of my supplied invitation details. Do not invent an address, phone number, or email.

1. DESIGN THE INVITATION

Make a tall, phone-sized invitation that is bright, cute, playful, and easy to read in a text message.

Match this style:

- Candy pink background with tiny sparkles.

- Warm cream areas behind the text.

- Plum-purple lettering with raspberry-pink accents.

- Rounded corners, soft lavender shadows, and pastel rainbow colors.

- A large, bold storybook-style name with friendly, playful supporting lettering.

- Original illustrated characters based on the theme. For the example theme, include a unicorn, waving princess, and mermaid beneath a rainbow, with small castle and seashell details.

- Prominent party details that are readable on a phone.

Use this invitation wording, substituting my details:

[CHILD'S NAME]'s

[AGE WITH ORDINAL] birthday

[THEME]

[DISPLAY DATE]

[DISPLAY TIME]

[DISPLAY LOCATION]

RSVP to [CONTACT]

by [RSVP DEADLINE].

Animate the artwork with gentle waving, bobbing, floating, and twinkling. Keep the text still and readable. Make a seamless approximately eight-second loop.

Deliver:

- A high-resolution 1080 × 1920 PNG.

- A 720 × 1280 MP4 suitable for texting.

- A lightweight looping GIF.

2. BUILD THE MATCHING RSVP WEBSITE

Use the same illustration, colors, typography, and playful visual style.

On larger screens, place the invitation beside the RSVP form. On phones, stack them neatly. Include a way to pause the illustration and respect reduced-motion preferences.

The site must have:

- A public invitation page.

- A private organizer dashboard.

- A unique personal invitation link for each household.

- Saved responses that households can reopen and edit using their same link.

- No guest account or sign-in requirement.

Store replies persistently on the server so they work across devices.

3. HOUSEHOLD RSVP EXPERIENCE

Show "A special invitation for [household name]" above the form.

Include:

- "We'll be there!" and "Can't make it" choices.

- Separate adult and kid counts.

- An optional note for the organizer.

- A "Send RSVP" button.

- A clear saved confirmation.

- A "Save changes" button when editing an existing reply.

Validate the counts. Declined replies should not contribute to attendance totals. Prevent accidental overwriting when the same reply is edited in two places.

A household's private link should allow access only to that household's response. Use long, unpredictable tokens and avoid exposing them unnecessarily.

4. ORGANIZER DASHBOARD

Only my signed-in organizer account may see the complete guest list and all responses. Enforce this on the server.

Include:

- "The party list." heading.

- Cards showing adults attending, kids attending, households replied, and households awaiting a reply.

- A household-name field and "+ Add household" button.

- "Copy personal link," "Share," and "Open invitation" controls for each household.

- A way to replace a household's link while preserving its response.

- Household search.

- Filters for All, Coming, Can't come, and No reply.

- Each household's status, adult/kid counts, note, and last-updated time.

- A "Refresh replies" control.

Create one link per household. Make it clear that the organizer should text each family its own personal link.

5. ADD TO CALENDAR

Add an "Add to calendar" control with:

- An Apple/Outlook-compatible .ics download.

- A Google Calendar link.

Use the supplied year, date, start and end times, and time zone accurately.

6. PUBLISH, VERIFY, AND DELIVER

Publish the working website and give me the live invitation and organizer URLs. I authorize the invitation page to be reachable by anyone with its URL so guests can use personal links without signing in.

Keep household replies protected by their private links and the full guest list protected by organizer authentication.

Check that:

- Replies persist after reopening the page.

- Edited responses update the attendance totals.

- Household links cannot access other households' responses.

- Anonymous visitors cannot access organizer data.

- Calendar details are correct.

- The invitation and forms work well on phones.

Keep fictional example responses out of my live guest list.

Provide the downloadable invitation files and brief instructions explaining how to add families, share personal links, and check replies.

Carry the work through to completion. Make reasonable design decisions from this brief. Ask only for essential missing information or genuinely required approval.
